Arduino Setup

Connect the relay module’s VCC to the Arduino’s 5 V output.
Connect GND of the relay module to Arduino GND.
Connect the signal input (IN1) on the relay to a digital I/O pin on the Arduino, e.g., digital pin 7.
On the load side: cut the live (or positive) wire of the device you want to switch, connect one end to the relay COM (common) terminal, the other end to NO or NC depending on behavior desired.

Raspberry Pi Setup

Use the Pi’s 5 V output/D-pin and a GPIO pin for signal control.
Connect relay VCC to the 5V pin, relay GND to Pi GND.
Connect IN pin of the relay to a GPIO (e.g., GPIO17).
On the high-voltage side, cut the live wire of the device, connect one end to COM, the other to NO or NC.

NO / NC (Normally Open / Normally Closed) Contacts

A relay has three main terminals on the output side:

COM (Common):
