FAQs:
1. Can you 3D print a pulley?
- Yes, It is possible to print own 3D printer timer belt pulley. Although the efficiency and smoothness of the pulley wont be similar to that of other metal pulley used in 3D printer.
2. How do you put a timing belt on a 3D printer?
- The timing belt must be tight enough to move smoothly around its axis, but not so loose that it rattles when you move the printhead or bed. Tighten the strap if the component feels unstable. For bumpy movements, loosen the straps. It should be about the same tension as a stretched rubber band, but don't overtighten the strap as it can increase wear on the belt.
3. What is GT2 pulley?
- GT2 series timing belts and pulleys are specifically designed for linear motion. The rounded tooth profile allows the belt teeth to fit smoothly and precisely in the grooves of the pulleys, leaving no room for the belt to move in the grooves when the direction of the pulleys is reversed. The GT2 timing belt is for lightweight applications such as: Initial deceleration from gearbox or engine to flywheel. GT2 belts use a smaller pitch than HTD belts. This means that larger gear ratios can be used in these tight fitting areas of the robot. GT2 series belts are specifically designed for linear motion. A rounded tooth profile with a 2mm pitch allows the belt teeth to fit smoothly and precisely in the grooves of the timing belt pulley, leaving no room for the belt to enter the grooves when the direction of the pulleys is reversed.
4. How strong is GT2 belt?
- The GT2 system is an extension of the HTD system with increased capacity. Circular tooth profile Small tooth pitch suitable for linear drive. Break strength: 86 N per mm of belt width (62 lbs per 1/8 inch).
