5A ACS712 Current Sensor

The 5A ACS712 range Current Sensor Module consists of a precise, low-offset, linear Hall circuit with a copper conduction path located near the surface of the die. Applied current flowing through this copper conduction path generates a magnetic field in which the Hall IC converts into a proportional voltage.

Sensing and controlling current flow is a fundamental requirement in a wide variety of applications including, over-current protection circuits, battery chargers, switching mode power supplies, digital watt meters, programmable current sources, etc.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

1.What's the main purpose of the ACS712 sensor?

  • The ACS712 is a current sensor that can detect the passage of current via a conductor. If you're working on a project that involves monitoring or adjusting the amount of current flowing through a circuit, this is a great tool to have on hand.

2.How does the ACS712 sensor work?

  • The ACS712 sensor measures the current passing through a conductor using the Hall Effect concept. When current runs through it, a tiny integrated circuit inside senses a magnetic field surrounding a conductor. This magnetic field is then transformed into an output voltage that a microcontroller or other device can read.

3.What's the maximum current that the 5A ACS712 sensor can measure?

  • The 5A ACS712 sensor is capable of measuring up to 5A of current. If you're working on a project that involves monitoring or managing a moderate amount of current, this is a suitable option.
