1. How to select an ESC?
- The ESC can be chosen based on the motor's voltage and peak current rating. Because you may be powering servos, receivers, and other accessories from the ESC, a simple rule is to choose an ESC with at least 5A more capacity than the peak rating of the motor.
2. How are ESC rated?
- ESCs are rated based on how much current they can pass to the motors. The ESC's job is to turn on the power to the motor coils at breakneck speeds. This switching is controlled by a microprocessor and performed by transistors known as MOSFETs, also known as FETs.
3. How does ESC control speed?
- An ESC, or Electronic Speed Controller, regulates the movement or speed of a brushless motor by activating the appropriate MOSFETs to generate a rotating magnetic field, causing the motor to rotate. The higher the frequency or the faster the ESC cycles through the six intervals, the faster the motor will spin.
4. What is Simonk ESC?
- The Simonk ESC is a 12A Electronic Speed Controller designed for brushless DC motors in DIY quadcopters and multicopters. For less than 10 seconds, these ESCs can provide a constant current of 12A and a peak current of 15A. A 1-3S LiPo battery is recommended for this ESC. This ESC can be used with BLDC motors in quadcopters, multirotor drones, RC planes, and other applications.
