1.8 inch TFT LCD Module

This is the 1.8 inch TFT LCD Module, This TFT LCD display Module communicates via 4-wire SPI and has its own pixel-addressable frame buffer; it can be used with any type of microcontroller. Even a very small one with limited memory and few available pins! The 1.8′′ TFT LCD display features 128160 colour pixels. This display is a true TFT, unlike the low-cost "Nokia 6110" and similar LCD displays, which are CSTN type and thus have poor colour and slow refresh. The ST7735R TFT driver can display full 18-bit colour (262,144 shades!).

And the LCD will always come with the same driver chip, so you won't have to worry about your code not working from one to the other. The TFT display is soldered to the breakout (it uses a delicate flex-circuit connector), as well as an ultra-low-dropout 3.3V regulator and a 3/5V level shifter, allowing you to use it with 3.3V or 5V power and logic.

If you want to use this 1.8 inch TFT LCD display Module with Arduino, in your project for that you will need few essential components like

1. Is TFT LCD better than IPS?

  • Well in terms of functionality and features IPS Displays have an upper hand. As it provides higher picture quality, high contrast, fast response time and much more. While TFT LCDs are comparatively better than IPS displays in terms of Cost and Power consumption. The 1.8 inch TFT LCD display module SPI is one of the widely used for DIY Projects. The 1.8 TFT SPI 128x160 has great resolution for when working with any micro controllers.

2. What is TFT LCD display module?

  • TFT LCD (Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display) displays have a sandwich-like structure with liquid crystal sandwiched between two glass plates. A TFT Glass has as many TFTs as pixels displayed, whereas a Color Filter Glass has a colour filter that generates colour.

3. How does TFT LCD display work?

  • A TFT LCD has a liquid crystal layer between a glass substrate formed with TFTs and transparent pixel electrodes and another glass substrate with a colour filter (RGB) and transparent counter electrodes. Polarizers are also placed on the outside of each glass substrate, as well as a backlight source on the inside.
