BBC Micro:Bit Boards and Accessories

The BBC Micro:Bit is a pocket-sized programmable development board designed to make learning technology enjoyable and accessible.

It is a small, open-source ARM based hardware board made by the BBC for teaching coding in schools. Its general launch started on 10 Feb 2016 to the general public under the Make It Digital campaign.

The first version of BBC micro:bit used a 16 MHz ARM processor with 256 KB flash memory and 16 KB RAM. The v2 board, released in 2020, upgrades to a 64 MHz chip with 512 KB flash and 128 KB RAM.

About half the size of a credit card, the micro:bit includes a 5×5 LED grid, two buttons, an accelerometer, a magnetometer, Bluetooth, a MicroUSB port, and a 25-pin connector for adding sensors or motors.

You can code it in MakeCode, Python, or JavaScript to build games, robots, wearables, or data loggers.
