The Waveshare Industrial Isolated RS232/RS485 to PoE Ethernet Serial Server (B) is a compact dual-channel serial-to-Ethernet converter designed to connect RS232 and RS485 devices to an Ethernet network for industrial data communication and remote monitoring. It features 1 × isolated RS232 port, 1 × isolated RS485 port, and 2 × RJ45 Ethernet ports, allowing both serial channels to transmit and receive data independently at the same time.
The PoE Ethernet version supports IEEE 802.3af, while power can also be supplied through the 5.5 mm DC power port or 6–40V DC screw terminal. The device supports 10/100M Ethernet, 300–115200 bps baud rates, TCP Server, TCP Client, UDP and UDP Multicast modes, as well as Modbus Gateway, MQTT Gateway and RS232/RS485-to-JSON functions.
One RJ45 port can also be used for Ethernet cascading, with up to 8 modules supported in a cascade when each module is powered individually. With power and signal isolation, 2 KV surge protection, an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, and dimensions of 78.0 × 72.5 × 24.2 mm, it is well suited for industrial automation, data acquisition, IoT gateways, intelligent instrument monitoring and network upgrades.
