This is a simple and easy-to-use DC motor speed controller of small size, elegant appearance, and stable performance. It is made with a high-quality circuit board which ensures a longer service life.

The DC Motor Speed Controller allows controlling the direction of a DC motor using a Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) DC voltage with a Duty Cycle fully adjustable from 10%-100%. The motor speed controller can provide a continuous current of 8A to your DC motor or other DC load. Speed Regulator is an important electronic DIY equipment.

Do not touch the heat sink with the wiring. If it touches, it may burn the circuit board. Note that this is not a power module. It must be connected to the motor to speed it up. There is no change in the output of the multimeter without the motor.

1. Can a potentiometer be used to control motor speed?

  • Yes, you can use a potentiometer to control motor speed. When used to vary voltage, a potentiometer can be connected to a motor and vary the voltage (and therefore power) delivered to a motor which will control its speed.

2. How do I slow down my motor speed?

  • If you want to reduce rpm without compromising speed regulation then use a voltage regulator or PWM controller to lower the motor voltage. If you also want higher torque then use a gearbox (which increases torque by the same proportion as it reduces shaft rpm)

  • Pulse width modulation speed control works by driving the motor with a series of "ON-OFF" pulses and varying the duty cycle, the fraction of time that the output voltage is “ON” compared to when it is “OFF”, of the pulses while keeping the frequency constant.

4. How does PWM reduce power?

  • PWM reduces the average current (and in consequence the average power). In the case of LEDs, the voltage is unimportant; it is the current that can destroy them (both forward and reverse). As a result, you must be careful not to exceed their current peak rating.
