The Waveshare Industrial Serial Server RS232/RS485/RS422 to RJ45 Ethernet Converter is designed to connect traditional serial equipment to modern Ethernet networks for reliable industrial data communication. It supports RS232, RS485, and RS422 interfaces and provides bidirectional transparent data transmission between the serial ports and Ethernet.
The Ethernet interface uses a 10/100M auto-negotiation RJ45 connector with 2KV surge protection, while serial communication supports baud rates from 300 to 115200 bps, 5–9 data bits, and None, Odd, Even, Mark, or Space parity. It supports TCP Server, TCP Client, UDP, and UDP Multicast modes along with TCP/IP direct communication and VCOM.
The device can also function as a Modbus gateway, MQTT gateway, and RS485-to-JSON gateway, making it useful for data acquisition, IoT gateways, intelligent instrument monitoring, and industrial automation. The PoE version supports IEEE 802.3af and can operate from 6–36V DC, while the device is rated for an operating temperature of -40°C to 85°C. Its compact 87 × 36 × 59 mm rail-mount enclosure makes it convenient for industrial installations.
