Waveshare Industrial RS232/RS485/RS422 to CAN Isolated Converter with Modbus RTU Support

The Waveshare Industrial RS232/RS485/RS422 to CAN Isolated Converter is designed to connect conventional serial communication devices with CAN-based industrial networks. It supports data communication and conversion between RS232, RS485, RS422, and CAN, with four operating modes: transparent conversion, transparent conversion with identifiers, format conversion, and Modbus RTU protocol conversion.

The CAN interface supports CAN 2.0B extended frames, is compatible with CAN 2.0A standard frames, and offers configurable baud rates from 10 kbps to 1000 kbps. The RS232/RS485/RS422 interfaces support baud rates from 1200 bps to 460800 bps.

For reliable operation in demanding environments, the converter features onboard power and digital isolation, 15 kV ESD isolation protection, and 600 W lightningproof and anti-surge protection. It also includes a configurable 120 Ω matching resistor, up to 1000 CAN frames of buffer capacity, and a wide 5 V–36 V DC power input.

CAN buffer has a capacity of up to 1000 frames for preventing data loss during transmission.
Onboard unibody power supply separation delivers stable isolated voltage and does not require an additional power source for the isolated terminal.
Onboard unibody digital isolation enables signal separation, excellent reliability, robust anti-interference, and low power consumption.
Onboard TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor), effectively suppress surge voltage and transient spike voltage in the circuit; lightningproof and anti-electrostatic.
Onboard 15KV ESD isolation protection and 600W lightningproof/anti-surge protection.
Onboard 120R terminal resistance on the RS485/RS422 interface, changeable via jumper
Supports firmware upgrades via RS232/485/422, making firmware modification more straightforward.
Supports configuring operation parameters using configuration software or serial commands, with the ability to save settings after power-off.
The onboard power supply screw terminal supports a wide variety of DC input voltages from 5V to 36V.
4 LEDs to show the power and transmitter status. Industrial grade metal case, allows wall-mount and rail-mount installation, solid and elegant, simple to install.
