The Waveshare Industrial RS232/RS485/RS422 to CAN Isolated Converter is designed to connect conventional serial communication devices with CAN-based industrial networks. It supports data communication and conversion between RS232, RS485, RS422, and CAN, with four operating modes: transparent conversion, transparent conversion with identifiers, format conversion, and Modbus RTU protocol conversion.
The CAN interface supports CAN 2.0B extended frames, is compatible with CAN 2.0A standard frames, and offers configurable baud rates from 10 kbps to 1000 kbps. The RS232/RS485/RS422 interfaces support baud rates from 1200 bps to 460800 bps.
For reliable operation in demanding environments, the converter features onboard power and digital isolation, 15 kV ESD isolation protection, and 600 W lightningproof and anti-surge protection. It also includes a configurable 120 Ω matching resistor, up to 1000 CAN frames of buffer capacity, and a wide 5 V–36 V DC power input.
