The Waveshare Industrial Grade USB to RS485/RS422 Isolated Converter provides a dependable way to connect a USB host to RS485 or RS422 industrial communication equipment. Built with original FT232RL and SP485EEN chips, it supports communication speeds from 300 bps to 3 Mbps and offers automatic hardware direction control for smooth data transmission.
The converter features galvanic power and digital isolation, along with 600W surge/lightning protection, 15KV ESD protection, a 200mA self-recovery fuse, and protection diodes for safer operation in electrically noisy environments. It supports RS485/RS422 transmission distances of approximately 1.2 km at low data rates, while USB transmission is approximately 5 m. The RS485 interface supports point-to-multipoint communication with up to 32 nodes, and the onboard 120Ω termination resistor can be enabled through a jumper.
With a 5V USB operating voltage, USB-B connector, screw-terminal RS485/RS422 interface, and compatibility with Windows 11/10/8.1/8/7, Linux, Mac, Android, and WinCE, this industrial USB to RS485/RS422 converter is well suited for industrial control, equipment communication, serial device interfacing, and long-distance RS485/RS422 applications. Its compact 81.9 × 54.0 × 32.0 mm ABS rail-mount enclosure also makes it convenient for installation in industrial control panels.
