The Waveshare Industrial 8-Channel Isolated RS485 Hub (RS485-HUB-8P) is designed to expand and organize RS485 networks where multiple devices need reliable serial communication. It provides 1 RS485 master port and 8 isolated RS485 slave ports, allowing a single RS485 host device to communicate with multiple RS485 sensors, meters, controllers, and other industrial devices.
The hub supports 300–460800bps self-adaptive baud rates, while each RS485 port can support up to 32 nodes. For long-distance communication, it can reach up to 1200m at 9600bps, with the achievable distance decreasing as the baud rate increases. The device uses RS485 two-wire (A, B), half-duplex transparent transmission and accepts DC 9–24V power through screw terminals.
Its built-in photoelectric isolation helps separate the master and slave sides, reducing the effects of ground potential differences and providing protection against electrostatic interference, lightning, and surge conditions. With a 35mm standard rail-mount design, the Waveshare RS485 hub is well suited for industrial control panels, data acquisition systems, IoT gateways, safety and security IoT applications, and intelligent instrument monitoring.
