Waveshare 8CH Industrial Digital Input/Output Module, Modbus RTU, DC 7–36V
The Waveshare 8CH Industrial Digital Input/Output Module is an industrial-grade 8DI/8DO digital I/O module designed for reliable monitoring and control through an RS485 interface using the standard Modbus RTU protocol. It operates from a DC 7–36V power supply and provides 8 digital inputs rated at 5–36V, supporting both passive and active input modes, including NPN and PNP configurations.
The module also features 8 open-drain digital outputs, with each channel supporting up to 500mA maximum output load. For improved reliability in industrial environments, it incorporates bidirectional optocoupler isolation, power isolation, TVS surge protection, a resettable fuse, and protection diode. The configurable Modbus device address ranges from 1–255, allowing multiple modules to be connected on the same RS485 bus.
With a rail-mount design, status indicators, and support for multiple output control modes, this Modbus RTU I/O module is well suited for industrial automation, machine control, PLC expansion, monitoring systems, and other applications requiring isolated digital input and output control.

- The output uses Darlington transistors with optocoupler isolation, which provides better driving capacity with up to 500mA sinking current and built-in flyback diode protection.
- Features flash-on, flash-off feature; by passing argument to the command, it is possible to turn on the output for a while and then close it automatically.
- Rail-mount case design, supports stacking combinations, is simple to install and safer to use.
- Multiple LEDs to indicate input and output status, MCU state, and signal transceiving status.
