SmartElex Sound Detector | LM386 Sound Sensor Module with Analog & Digital Output
The SmartElex Sound Detector is a compact sound sensing module based on the LM386 audio amplifier. It detects ambient sound signals and provides both analog and digital outputs, allowing a microcontroller to measure sound levels or detect when sound exceeds a preset threshold.
The module features an adjustable sensitivity control, making it suitable for applications such as clap detection, noise monitoring, sound-activated projects and interactive electronics. It operates from 3.3–5.3V, making it convenient for Arduino and other compatible microcontroller projects.
Features
-
LM386 Audio Amplifier: Uses the LM386 amplifier with high gain of up to approximately 200× for amplifying detected sound signals.
-
Analog Output: Provides an AOUT signal that can be used to monitor sound waveforms or measure sound amplitude.
-
Digital Output: Provides a DOUT signal that changes state when the detected sound exceeds the adjustable threshold.
-
Adjustable Sensitivity: Onboard potentiometer allows the sound detection threshold to be adjusted according to the application.
-
Wide Frequency Response: Supports a typical frequency response of approximately 50Hz–20kHz for common audio-frequency sound detection.
-
Wide Operating Voltage: Supports 3.3–5.3V supply voltage for compatibility with a range of development boards.
