1. What is a thermal printer?
- A thermal printer is a kind of dot-matrix printer that prints images on specially made heat-sensitive paper by using heated pins. Thermal printers "burn" the picture onto the paper by applying heat to certain regions of the image instead of using ink. These printers have a reputation for operating quietly.
2. Do thermal printers need ink?
- There is no ink needed for thermal printers. Rather, they print directly onto specialized heat-sensitive material by using heat. Toner, ribbons, and ink are not needed with this technique. It's crucial to remember that the heat-sensitive material used in thermal printing has the potential to fade with time and become challenging to read or scan. Thermal labels can also lose some of their durability and readability due to sensitivity to chemicals, water, abrasions, and intense sunshine.
3. Can thermal printer print color?
- Color printing is not possible with thermal printers. They use heat-sensitive paper, sometimes called thermal paper or thermal labels, and can only print in black and white. With this technology, images are created using heat instead of ink or toner. As a result, thermal printers can only print in monochrome.
