The 7Semi FT232RNL USB-C to RS485 Industrial Converter is designed to bridge modern USB-C devices with RS485 communication networks for industrial and embedded applications. Built around the original FT232RL USB-to-UART controller and ILX485DT RS485 transceiver, it delivers reliable serial communication for automation, testing, debugging, and MODBUS-based systems. The USB Type-C interface provides convenient connectivity to laptops, PCs, and embedded hosts while maintaining stable RS485 communication.
Supporting baud rates from 300bps to 921600bps, the converter accommodates both low-speed and high-speed serial communication requirements. Hardware automatic direction control eliminates the need for manual transmit/receive switching, while support for point-to-multipoint communication allows connection to up to 32 RS485 nodes. An additional GND terminal helps improve signal stability by reducing interference during communication.
Designed for industrial environments, the converter supports RS485 transmission distances of up to 1200 meters in low-rate mode. It is compatible with Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, and WinCE, making it suitable for a wide range of development and deployment scenarios. LED indicators for power, transmit, receive, and reset provide quick visual feedback, simplifying installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting during operation.
