FOTEK 24V-380V 40Amp DA Solid State Relay Module

This is SSR-40DA Solid State Relay Module 3-32VDC/24-380VAC 40A. A solid-state relay (SSR) allows you to control high-current AC loads from lower-voltage DC control circuitry. Solid-state relays have several advantages over mechanical relays.

One such advantage is that they can be switched by a much lower voltage and at a much lower current than most mechanical relays. Also, because there are no moving contacts, solid-state relays can be switched much faster and for much longer periods without wearing out.

This particular SSR can switch current loads of up to 40A with a 3-32V DC input and a zero cross-trigger control method. Each one of these relays is equipped with four screw terminals (for use with ring or fork connectors) and a plastic cover that slides over the top of the relay to protect the terminals.

1. What is solid-state relay module?

  • Solid State Relays are semiconductor equivalents of the electromechanical relay and can be used to control electrical loads without the use of moving parts.

2. What is the difference between SSR and relay?

  • Solid-state relay, commonly known as SSR, is a type of relay found everywhere in the world. The main difference between solid-state and general relays is that solid-state relays (SSR) do not have movable contacts.

3. What is the function of solid-state relay SSR?

  • Solid-state relays (SSRs) serve the same functions as electromechanical relays but are non-moving non-contact devices that can switch voltages to several hundred Vac for hundreds of thousands of cycles and beyond which makes them useful for switching heating elements, motors, and transformers

4. Why do solid-state relays fail?

  • If the input current exceeds the rated making current of the SSR due to the high inrush current of loads such as motors and lamps, SSR output elements are damaged. Consider switching to a higher-capacity SSR.

5. How do I test a solid-state relay?

  • Connect a load and power supply, and check the voltage of the load terminals with the input ON and OFF. With the SSR turned off, the output voltage will be close to the load power supply voltage. When the SSR is turned on, the voltage drops to around 1V.
