SIM900A GSM GPRS Module with RS232 Interface and SMA Antenna

The SIM900A Modem incorporates the SIM900A GSM module from SIMCOM, a dual-band GSM-based modem. It operates within the 900MHz frequency range and has the capability to automatically search for these two bands. Additionally, the frequency bands can be configured using AT Commands. The baud rate can be adjusted within the range of 1200-115200 through AT commands as well. This ultra-compact wireless module features an interface that facilitates connections with both PCs and microcontrollers through the RS232 Chip (MAX232).

Designed for M2M applications, the SIM900A Modem is ideal for SMS, voice, and data transfer purposes. Its onboard regulated power supply accommodates a wide range of unregulated power sources. With this modem, you can effortlessly perform tasks such as making audio calls, sending and receiving SMS messages, reading SMS content, and handling incoming calls using simple AT commands. This SMT-type GSM module is a complete solution, incorporating a powerful single chip that enables its compact size. It offers serial and TTL outputs for easy integration and utilization.

  • SIM900A is a small and dependable wireless module. This is an SMT GSM/GPRS module with a very powerful single-chip processor integrating the AMR926EJ-S core, allowing you to benefit from small dimensions and cost-effective solutions.

2. What is GSM and GPRS used for?

  • The GSM network is circuit-switched. The GPRS network is packet-switched. GSM technology offers a data rate of approximately 9.6 kbps (kilobytes per second) to all of its users. For all users, the GPRS technology provides a data rate ranging from 14.4 kbps to 115.2 (kilobytes per second).

3. What is the purpose of GSM module?

  • A customized Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) module is designed for wireless radiation monitoring via Short Messaging Service (SMS). This module can receive serial data from radiation monitoring devices such as survey meters or area monitors and send it as text SMS to a host server.
