12V 1A Transformer - 1000mA

The 12-0-12 1Amp Step-Down Transformer is a chassis mounting mains transformer. The transformer has a 230V primary winding and a secondary winding that is not center tapped. The transformer has insulated connecting leads with flying colors ( Approx. 100 mm long ). The transformer functions as a step down transformer, converting 230V AC to 12V AC.
The transformer produces 12V and 0V outputs. The Transformer's construction is detailed below, including the Solid Core and Winding.

The transformer is a static electrical device that transfers energy between its winding circuits via inductive coupling. A changing current in the primary winding causes a changing magnetic flux in the transformer's core and, as a result, a changing magnetic flux through the secondary winding. In the secondary winding, the varying magnetic flux induces a varying electromotive force (E.M.F.) or voltage. The cores of the transformer are made of high permeability silicon steel. The steel has many times the permeability of free space, and the core serves to greatly reduce the magnetizing current and confine the flux to a path that closely couples the winding.

Features:

  • Soft Iron Core.
  • 1 Amp Current Drain.
  • 100% Copper Winding
  • DIY projects Requiring In-Application High current drain.
  • On chassis AC/AC converter.

Also check 12-0-12 Transformer-500mA available on Robocraze. It is a center-tapped step-down transformer designed to accept standard 220V AC mains voltage. The primary function of this transformer is to convert 230V to 12V, making it suitable for use in small rectifier circuits. It has an output current of 500mA.

1. How much power does a 12v transformer use?

  • A 12v transformer uses Input Voltage of 230V AC and converts into 12V DC. It uses 1 to 5W power.

2. What does a 12v transformer do?

  • A 12V Centre tapped transformer can be used to convert AC Voltage to DC Voltage. It can be used in DIY projects and small electrical devices. It can also be used to make a mobile adapter.

3. How do you wire a 12 volt transformer?

  • Transformer windings have a phase relationship, but this is usually not critical for the power supply. Polarity does not matter if one of the wires is not continuous to the core of the transformer.
