74139 Dual Decoder-Demux IC

74139 is a dual 2-to-4 line decoder/demultiplexer integrated circuit (IC). It is a digital logic IC that can be used to convert a two-line binary input signal into one of four output signals. The 74139 IC has two active-low enable inputs, E1 and E2, and two data inputs, D1 and D2. When both enable inputs are high, the outputs are inactive (in a high-impedance state). When one of the enabled inputs is low, the corresponding data input is passed through to the outputs. The 74139 IC is commonly used in digital logic circuits and in applications where a binary input signal needs to be decoded into multiple output signals.

The 74HC39 counter circuits contain independent ripple carry counters and utilize advanced silicon-gate CMOS technology.  The  MM74HC393  contains two  4-bit ripples that have binary counters, which can be cascaded to create a single divide-by-256 counter. Each of the two 4-bit counters is incremented on the HIGH- to-LOW transition (negative edge) of the clock input, and each has an independent clear input.  When clear is set to HIGH all four bits of each counter are set to a low level. This enables count truncation and allows the implementation of divide-by-N counter configurations.

1.What is IC 74139?

  • IC 74139 is a dual 2-to-4 line decoder/demultiplexer integrated circuit. It is a digital logic IC that can be used to convert a two-line binary input signal into one of four output signals. The 74139 IC has two active-low enable inputs, called E1 and E2, and two data inputs, called D1 and D2. When both enable inputs are high, the outputs are inactive (in a high-impedance state). When one of the enable inputs is low, the corresponding data input is passed through to the outputs. The 74139 IC is commonly used in digital logic circuits and in applications where a binary input signal needs to be decoded into multiple output signals.

2.How can IC 74138 be used as demultiplexer?

  • The 74LS138 is used in de-multiplexing applications by using the enable pin as the data input pin. In addition, the chip inputs are clamped with high-performance Schottky diodes to suppress line ringing and simplify system design.

3.What is the IC number of the 2x4 decoder?

  • The integrated circuit IC 74139 is a dual 2-to-4 line decoder/demultiplexer. It is a digital logic integrated circuit (IC) that can convert a two-line binary input signal to one of four output signals. The 74139 IC has two active-low enable inputs, E1 and E2, as well as two data inputs, D1 and D2.
