The CD4051 analog multiplexers and demultiplexers IC are digitally-controlled analog switches having low ON impedance and very low OFF leakage current. These multiplexer circuits dissipate extremely low quiescent power over the full VDD – VSS and VDD – VEE supply-voltage ranges, independent of the logic state of the control signals.

  • The CD4051 is an 8-channel analogue multiplexer and demultiplexer that is controlled by a digital signal. As a result, they are commonly referred to as Digitally-controlled Analog Switches. It has a low ON impedance and a very low OFF leakage current. It dissipates very little power over the entire VDD-VSS and VDD-VEE voltage ranges.

2.How does 4051 multiplexer work?

  • The CD4051B is an 8-channel multiplexer with three binary control inputs, A, B, and C, as well as an inhibit input. The three binary signals turn on one of the eight channels and connect one of the eight inputs to the output.
