The Raspberry Pi Camera Module is a small but powerful add-on designed to work smoothly with Raspberry Pi boards. The Raspberry Pi HQ camera connects using a unique Camera Serial Interface (CSI), which enables it to take lag-free, high-quality pictures and videos.
Its 5-megapixel Raspberry Pi USB camera sensor allows it to capture clear images and full HD (1080p at 30 frames per second) videos. Because it’s lightweight and compact, it’s a great choice for projects like home security, DIY drones, and smart robotics.
This Raspberry Pi high quality camera module is perfect for capturing moments, live streaming, and even powering AI projects like facial recognition and object tracking. Experts as well as beginners will find complicated image processing simple due to its easy integration with Raspberry Pi software.
One Raspberry Pi camera module can be connected to a basic Raspberry Pi board, but additional gear, such as adapters or a compute module, allows you to connect 4 cameras for imaginative setups like depth-sensing applications or 360-degree views. These Raspberry Pi cam modules offer countless opportunities for fascinating tasks.

1. How does the Raspberry Pi camera work?
The amazing Raspberry Pi camera module opens into a whole new world of useful projects. The Raspberry Pi Camera Board is a custom designed add-on module for Raspberry Pi hardware.
2. Which is the best Raspberry Pi camera?
The Raspberry Pi Camera Module v2 is a high quality 8 megapixel Sony IMX219 image sensor custom designed add-on board for Raspberry Pi, featuring a fixed focus lens. It's capable of 3280 x 2464 pixel static images, and also supports 1080p30, 720p60 and 640x480p60/90 video. It attaches to Pi by way of one of the small sockets on the board upper surface and uses the dedicated CSI interface, designed especially for interfacing to cameras. The board itself is tiny, at around 25mm x 23mm x 9mm. It also weighs just over 3g, making it perfect for mobile or other applications where size and weight are important. It connects to Raspberry Pi by way of a short ribbon cable.
3. Can I use a webcam with Raspberry Pi?
If you're not interested in using a Raspberry Pi camera module, then you can use a standard USB webcam for taking pictures and recording videos. You can get started with the webcam by installing the fswebcam package.
4. How to install the Raspberry Pi camera?
It is best to install the camera to the Raspberry Pi without the extra boards. In other words, remove the Pi from the GoPiGo, or the GrovePi board, in order to have just the Pi. The Raspberry Pi Camera Board is a custom designed add-on module for Raspberry Pi hardware. The camera board is connected to the Raspberry Pi via a 15 way ribbon cable. The flex cable of the ribbon inserts into the connector situated between the Ethernet and HDMI ports, with the silver connectors facing the HDMI port. The flex cable connector should be opened by pulling the tabs on the top of the connector upwards then towards the Ethernet port. The flex cable should be inserted firmly into the connector, with care taken not to bend the flex at too acute an angle. The top part of the connector should then be pushed towards the HDMI connector and down, while the flex cable is held in place. On the camera PCB, you need to make sure that the blue backing faces away from the PCB and the raspberry side should be facing towards the ethernet connection.
5. How many cameras can be attached to a Raspberry Pi?
You can use multiple cameras with a single PI board. Raspberry Pi multi-camera adapter module is designed for connecting more than one camera to a single CSI camera port on the Raspberry Pi board.
