MLX90614ESF Infrared IR Temperature Sensor Module

The MLX90614ESF is an infrared thermometer for non-contact temperature measurements. Both the IR-sensitive thermopile detector chip and the signal conditioning ASIC are integrated into the same TO-39 can.

Integrated MLX90614 GY-906 is a low noise amplifier, 17-bit ADC, and powerful DSP unit thus achieving high accuracy and resolution of the thermometer.

The user can configure the digital output to be PWM. As a standard temperature sensor, the 10-bit PWM is configured to continuously transmit the measured temperature in the range of -20 to 120 °C, with an output resolution of 0.14 °C.

ADDITIONAL RESOURCES

1.What is the MLX90614ESF Infrared IR Temperature Sensor Module used for?

  • The MLX90614ESF is a non-contact temperature sensor that detects infrared radiation generated by an object to determine its surface temperature. It is widely employed in a variety of applications, including HVAC systems, medical equipment, and industrial processes.

2.How does the MLX90614ESF work?

  • The MLX90614ESF detects infrared radiation generated by an object and converts it into an electrical signal using a thermopile. The sensor's integrated circuit subsequently processes this signal to generate a temperature reading.

3.How do I interface the MLX90614ESF with a microcontroller like an Arduino?

  • Using the I2C communication protocol, the MLX90614ESF can be interfaced with a microcontroller such as an Arduino. To communicate with the sensor and read temperature values, connect the sensor's SDA and SCL pins to the corresponding I2C pins on the microcontroller, and use a suitable library.
