1/4 Inch Water Flow Sensor YF - S402

The YF-S402 water flow sensor is a device that is used to measure the flow rate of water. It consists of a turbine-type rotor that is placed in the water stream, and as the water flows past the rotor, it causes the rotor to spin. The sensor measures the speed of the rotor and converts it to a flow rate. The sensor has a digital output, which means that it provides a digital signal that can be read by a microcontroller or other host device. The frequency of the pulses is proportional to the flow rate of the liquid passing through the sensor. That digital signal, whose frequency is in the range between 0Hz and 100Hz, can be read directly through one of the digital input/output pins of a microcontroller. ID 8.5mm / OD 11mm.
The water flow sensor measures the rate of a liquid flowing through it. The YF-S402C water flow sensor consists of a plastic valve body, flow rotor, and hall effect sensor. It is usually used at the inlet end to detect the amount of flow. When liquid flows through the sensor, a magnetic rotor will rotate and the rate of rotation will vary with the rate of flow. The hall effect sensor will then output a pulse width signal. Connect it to a microcontroller and you can monitor multiple devices such as your coffee maker, sprinkler, or anything else, and control the water flow rate to suit your needs.

1. How does a water flow sensor work?

  • The water flow sensor is made up of a plastic valve through which water can flow. A water rotor and a hall effect sensor are used to detect and measure water flow. When water flows through the valve, it causes the rotor to rotate.

2. Where are water flow sensors used?

  • The water flow sensors are used to monitor the amount of water being supplied and used, and the rate of flow of water has to be measured. Water flow sensors are installed at water sources or pipes to measure the rate of flow and calculate the volume of water flowing through the pipe.

3. What is a water flow sensor?

  • This water flow sensor is used to measure a small quantity of water. It consists of a small turbine whose output signal is a series of digital pulses. The pulse frequency is proportional to the flow rate of the liquid through the sensor.
