What is a planetary motor?

Planetary motor is a type of motor that has a planetary gear system integrated to it. This offers several advantages like repeatability, precision, lower noise, better durability,etc. A planetary gearhead consists of an internal gear (sun gear) that drives multiple outer gears (planet gears) generating torque. 

How do planetary motors work?

A planetary gear motor mimics a planetary rotation system; the input shaft drives the central gear, also known as the sun gear, which then turns the surrounding gears, also known as planet gears. The planetary gears create pitch circles that can be formed into a gear train that, in turn, is hooked up to input and output shafts. The input shaft will come from the engine and the output shaft will head to the driven wheels.
